Foundation for SRM University in Amaravati on November 24, 2016
Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Mr. Chandrababu Naidu laid the foundation stone to SRM University on November 24 in Amaravati. SRM Amaravati will receive land in two phases of 100-acres land each. By the end of the first phase which is estimated to be 5 years, SRM will set up the university campus for 17,000 students. By the end of the second phase, the campus will have 52,000 students and the campus will also include a medical university and college.
SRM University has created history in Amaravati by becoming the first institute to become functional in the new capital city. Mr. Sathyanarayanan P, President, SRM University says that education is going to be the main factor that will drive the growth of Amaravati.
He felt that Amaravati has created a welcome atmosphere for encouraging the establishment of world-class universities for higher education under the able guidance of Mr. Chandrababu Naidu. Amaravati will transform into a global destination for higher education that caters to the skilled manpower requirements of India and the world as equal importance is given to knowledge infrastructure similar to physical infrastructure.
The SRM University in Amaravati completed a part of the construction process in just five months. The buildings of the university have been designed by the globally famous architects Will + Perkins.

In order to emerge as a world-class university that is regionally transformative, nationally relevant and globally connected, SRM is tying up with the world’s best universities like US Berkeley College of Engineering and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In fact, the curriculum of courses at SRM University has been designed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, US. By utilizing both technological and traditionally enabled methods of teaching, the courses promote the concept of hybrid learning.
SRM has hired the best faculty for their Amaravati campus and all of them have completed their PhDs with 90% having international academic exposure and 20% comprising the foreign nationals. SRM Amaravati has also announced that it will offer free education every year to 13 girl students hailing from agricultural or poor families and one from every district of Andhra Pradesh. The University will also offer Rupees. 5000 as a scholarship for 100 students in the state who excel in sports. SRM Amaravati will adopt the villages in the region and through medical camps, will offer free medical services.
